Parola. An App to promote language
A new tool to help parents support the language development of girls and boys.
The Parola project supports parents in promoting the linguistic development of their boys and girls between the ages of 24 and 36 months, through the creation and dissemination of the Parola App.
The Parola App has been designed to offer an innovative tool that allows parents to deepen their knowledge of the main stages of development, thanks to a series of dedicated podcasts, and to observe the linguistic progress of their boy or girl. At the same time, Parola App offers activities and game materials designed to stimulate language development in a natural and engaging way with the whole family. The Parola App not only supports the linguistic growth of all boys and girls, but it also helps to detect any delays early.
Available for free online, structured in six main sections, the app guides parents on an interactive and informative journey:
- The first section, Presentations, collects some basic information to provide a personalized experience.
- This is followed by the Observations section, where data on the child's language development are recorded, including the indicators provided by the PVB (Child's First Vocabulary).
- To support development in an engaging way, the Activities section offers different ideas of play and interaction that the parent can propose to the child, making every moment together an opportunity to enrich the language.
- The Ludoteca then acts as a virtual “game box”, where you can easily find all the materials useful for the activities proposed with printable PDFs, stories to tell and music to listen to.
- The Listen section offers a series of podcasts, each of which addresses a specific aspect of language development, allowing parents to learn more about important topics and receive useful suggestions in a practical way, directly from the voice of researchers and researchers.
- Finally, in the Relationships section, parents can download a personalized report on the child's language development at 30 and 36 months, based on the number of words acquired and the presence/absence of sentence production.
There is also a graph on the daily trend at 24, 30 and 36 months and the Word Graph, which visually shows progress in language, offering a valuable tool for closely following the linguistic growth of your child.
The Parola project involves three different universities: University of Bologna (Renzo Canestrari Department of Psychology), University of Padua (Department of Developmental and Socialization Psychology) and University of L'Aquila (Department of Applied Clinical Sciences and Biotechnology).
The project was funded by the Ministry of University and Research (PRIN 2022, project number 2022P7WP37, project title: Parola. Parenting App for Promoting Language Acquisition).
If you are a parent of a boy or girl between 24 and 36 months old, use the Parola app to promote your son or daughter's language development.
